Four U-19 WC Players in 'B' Team

Under-19 World Cup skipper Dinesh Ramdin has been named captain of the West Indies 'B' team for next months' Carib Cup Series.

Ramdin joins Lendl Simmons, Assad Fudadin and Mervyn Matthew as the four Under-19 players in the 'B' team for the first two rounds of the competition. The 'B' team, comprised mainly of leftover Under-23 players, opens the competition against Kenya in St Kitts on January 9.

A WICB official told CaribbeanCricket.com that four replacement players will be drafted into the side when the Under-19 players leave to participate in the Youth World Cup in Bangladesh.

The team, which was picked by two senior selectors (Gordon Greenidge and Joey Carew) and two junior selectors (Clyde Butts and Ezra Moseley), will get a new captain once Ramdin leaves for the World Cup. A vice-captain will be identified when the team assembles in Antigua on January 4, the WICB official explained.

Jamaican Lyndel Wright, who was fired as manager of the Jamaica side, was named manager of the 'B' team while Barbadian Roddy Estwick is coach.
