Carib Cup: Round Two Numbers

The second round of the Carib Beer Cup competition ended with a bang as the Leeward Islands, responding to a huge score of 564 by Kenya, made a a record 781 for seven. Three centuries were produced on day four to give respectability to the young West Indies batsmen.

The teams are now settling into position in the points table as they tussle for the symbol of regional supremacy.

After Round Two, the points standing are as follows:

Barbados has established the early lead and are the favourites to repeat as champions. Trinidad and Tobago are second, with Jamaica third. Guyana, normally a powerhouse in regional cricket, seem to be missing their West Indies players more than the other teams.

Dwayne Bravo of Trinidad and Tobago is really making a statement as an all-rounder in this competition. His 197 in the first innings of T&T v Windies B along with 1/27 v Windies B and 6/70 v Leeward Islands are impressive.

The competition is really heating up now, as bowling places galore seem to be up for grabs in the senior Wes Indies team. The batting seems settled with the exception of Darren Ganga and it would be good to have two or three batsmen competing for the one place available.
