Tears of a West Indian Fan

Thank you West Indies team, for breaking my heart! This horrendous display of cricket yesterday was the final straw.

I hope you guys are happy with your 47 glorious runs and I hope you had fun partying at the 'mound'. I remembered the stories my grandfather used to tell me about the great players of the past -- Lord Constantine, Sonny Ramadhin, Sir Frank, and the numerous greats that have represented our region with distinction and pride. What this team is doing is spitting in the face of all that is good and holy in West Indies cricket.

I cried real tears in 1999 when we lost to Australia at the ARG, after the great Brian Charles Lara fought so valiantly in an attempt to regain the Frank Worrell Trophy. I cried in 2000 during our tour of England when we lost a test match in two days and subsequently lost the Wisden Trophy which we've held for about 30 years.

I thought that would've been the last of my tears for this team, MY TEAM, but now they do me this, get bowled out for 47 by a 'green' England attack. I ignored the result all of yesterday, but last night I couldn't hold it in any longer. I cried again.

Do we deserve this? We the fans that support you through thick and thin.

I hope the next time you all walk onto a field representing the West Indies with your maroon caps on, you hang your heads in shame. I for one hope this English team humiliates you all and puts a 4-0 drubbing on you, this pathetic, soulless team. I was asked by someone if this team cares about us fans and I must say that I don't think so, for they would never allow us to be humiliated like this. It is embarassing to be a West Indian now, I feel for those West Indians living in England.

After this disastrous loss, some members of the team were seen in the 'mound', the party stand. It was unclear what they were doing there, but this just goes to show that they have no remorse. Then an 'apology' was issued. Please don't insult our intelligence, we West Indian fans should not and will not accept this lame 'apology'.

Everyone on this team must be held responsible, no one should be exempted from blame! I want to make a plea to captain Brian Lara, please resign the captaincy, you do not deserve this. You are too great a batsman, do not need these gargantuan losses to occur under your lead. Please give up the captaincy and focus on your brilliant batting let some other fool be captain and take the blame, I'm begging you.

Again I would like to thank the current West Indies team for breaking my heart with this loss and I hope that the team reads this letter and knows my pain.
