Lara to Miss First Two ODIs

Brian Lara's fractured pinky finger has ruled him out of competitive cricket for 10 days, beginning April 15.

The The West Indies skipper has been advised by an orthopaedic surgeon to rest to allow the fractured finger to heal properly, a move that effectively means he will miss the first two one-day internationals against England beginning on April 18.

Lara damaged the digit during the first Test against England in Jamaica and has been carrying the injury throughout the series. Persistent pain however forced him to seek medical attention during the final day's play of the Antigua Test.

The WICB said Lara will travel to Guyana with the rest of the squad for the first ODI.

Vice captain Ronnie Sarwan will lead the side in his absence.
