'They Came at us From Ball One'

For West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, it was a bittersweet day. The 20-year-old slammed an unbeaten 100 to lead the tourists to 292 against Ireland but spent the rest of the day watching the amateurs coast to a six-wicket win with 19 balls to spare.

After the embarrassing loss, Bravo spent a few minutes in an online chat with international journalists to share his early experiences on the tour...

Thanks a lot. I am happy that I got a hundred but I must say that I am very disappointed that we lost the game. The conditions are difficult to play under but we have to get used to it. We are West Indians and we are accustomed to hot weather. To come straight into the cold is very difficult. We will have to play a few more games before we get used to it. It was very, very cold today, especially when we were fielding.

This is your first tour, how do you see the level of cricket to date on tour, and how have you adapted your game to suit?

Remember, I toured here two years ago with the A Team and that experience has helped me a lot.

Is the moving ball encountered to date a problem for you and the other batsmen?

Of course it will cause problems because, back in the Caribbean, the ball doesn't do that much but once you do the basics you should do well and all should be good. Everything should be okay once you do the basics well.

How has Darren Sammy fitted into the scheme of things, he being the only newcomer.

I think he has fitted in very well. Everyone knows him so he fitted in easily. He is accustomed to the guys already.

Can you give us a sense of what went wrong in the field today? Ravi went for 10 runs an over and you didn't get a bowl. Can you relay to the fans back in the Caribbean why it was so difficult to defend 292 today?

Well I think the Irish guys approached the innings the way it should be approached. They came from us from ball one. Ravi bowled well yesterday but today was not his day. That happens in cricket but we have to move from strength to strength and go on, learn from this.

Following up on the last point - what is the team morale like especially since this is the second loss by the West Indies to the Ireland team, with the first coming back in 1969? What happened, 292 represents a lot of runs to play with.

Just as I said before, but in One Day cricket anything is possible. It was a good batting track and a fast outfield and the team batting last had an advantage.

Is there a concern in camp about the preparedness of the bowling heading into the triangular series?

No, I don't think so. We are all in a positive frame of mind and ready to take on the challenge ahead of us.
