Doctrove on ICC Trophy Panel

West Indian umpire Billy Doctrove moved a step closer to joining the ICC Elite Panel when his name was included among the list of umpires for next month's ICC Champions Trophy in England.

The 49-year-old Doctrove, who made his Test umpiring debut in 2000, joins Jamaican Steve Bucknor as only two Caribbean umpires in the tournament. Former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd will serve as a Match Referee.

Doctrove, popularly known as 'Toshack', has been a member of the Dominica Umpires Association since 1975. He first he officiated in a first class game in a 1991 match between the Windward Islands and Jamaica and has been a fixture in the regional first sclass season.

In 1998, he stood in an ODI game for the first time in a match between the West Indies and England in St Vincent.

Like Bucknor, Doctrove is a qualified FIFA referee. In 1996, he became the first Dominican to officiate in a football World Cup match in a qualifier between Grenada and Guyana.
