Dwayne Smith Out; Ryan Hinds In

Like clockwork, another West Indian cricket has succumbed to the injury bug.

The latest casualty is Dwayne Smith, who has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy tournament because of a back injury (latissimus dorsi). Left-hander Ryan Hinds will take his place.

Smith, a hard-hitting right-hander who does a bit of bowling in ODIs, first reported pain in the right shoulder during the final Test match in England. It forced him to miss batting in the first innings and limited his strokeplay in the second.

"A further examination during the camp in Bermuda revealed marked swelling and tenderness in the muscle which caused limited movement due to pain. Smith will undergo further treatment and is unlikely to play cricket within a three-four week period," the WICB said.

Smith joins pacers Jermaine Lawson, Tino Best and Ravi Rampaul on the shelf.
