Lara, Gayle in ODI World XI

West Indian cricketers have been shut out of the individual ICC 'Oscars' Awards announced in London on Tuesday but two familiar Caribbean names were included in the official World XI ODI Team of the Year.

West Indies captain Brian Lara and opener Chris Gayle were the two West Indians named in the ICC World ODI XI, which will be captained by Australian Ricky Ponting.

Lara was the lone West Indian named in the ICC Test World XI.

Lara, Gayle, Devon Smith and Tino Best were among the nominees for individual awards at the ICC ceremony but none of them were picked as winners.

Lara was nominated in two categories (Test Player of the Year and Player of the Year) while Gayle was listed in the nominees for ODI Player of the Year. Smith and Best were in the Emerging Player of the Year list.

India's Rahul Dravid won the prestigious Test Player of the Year while Englishman Andrew Flintoff took away the top ODI player prize. Indian pace bowler Irfan Pathan was picked as the best Emerging Player of 2004.

Umpire of the Year went to Simon Taufel, the young Australian umpire.
