Ganga Brothers Put T&T in Final

Half-centuries from the Ganga brothers and a valuable unbeaten 47 by Ricardo Powell sparked underdogs Trinidad & Tobago to an 11-run victory over Barbados in the first semi final of this year's unsponsored West Indies one-day competition.

Sherwin Ganga (66) teamed up with captain Daren Ganga (50) to lead Trinidad & Tobago's chase of a target of 276 set by the pre-tournament favourites. When bad light stopped play and forced the implementation of the Duckworth/Lewis system, Trinidad were declared victors at 256 for five (46.2 overs).

Barbados dropped four catches at crucial stages of Trinidad & Tobago's innings and, during the exciting run-chase, two players -- Floyd Reifer and Martin Nurse -- suffered serious injuries in the field.

Earlier, an unbeaten 69 from all-rounder Ryan Hinds and late innings fireworks from Ryan Hurley pushed Barbados to 276 for 5 off 50 overs. Dale Richards was also among the runs, stroking 66 as the home side got off to a bright start.

It is the first time since 1996 that Trinidad & Tobago will play in a regional one-day final. The win is a significant achievement for a side that is missing the the services of Brian Lara, Merv Dillon, Ravi Rampaul, Dwayne Bravo, Lendl Simmons and Dave Mohammed.

Trinidad & Tobago has beaten Barbados twice in this tournament.

Sherwin Ganga was named man-of-the-match.

Guyana will play the Windward Islands in the next semi-final on Friday.
