Outright Win for Jamaica

Hosts Jamaica secured a massive 176-run win over the Leeward Islands just after lunch on the last day of their Carib Beer Series first round match at Kaiser.

Chasing a target of 309 for victory, the Leewards crashed to 132 all out as 20-year-old pacer Jerome Taylor once again put in a match-winning bowling performance. Taylor, who picked up five wickets in the first innings, took 3-14 in nine overs as Jamaica took the maximum 12 points.

Starting the day at 16 for two, the Leewards were in immediate trouble. The visitors lost wickets regularly and were on the verge of an embarrassing rout with the score on 57 for six before Ridley Jacobs and Stuart Williams lent some respectability to the final total.

The two added 55 runs for the seventh wicket before Williams succumbed immediately after lunch. It ended shortly after.
