Hinds Out; Pagon Recalled

West Indies all-rounder Ryan Hinds has been diagnosed with a "viral illness" and will miss the second Test against South Africa in Trinidad & Tobago. Jamaican batsman Donovan Pagon will take his place.

Hinds' illness comes at the most inopportune time for the 24-year old left-hander, who has struggled to maintain his place in the side. He played a crucial role in the first Test in Guyana, scoring 48 and bowling 27 overs of fill-in left-arm spin.

It's not the first time that a sudden injury has forced the withdrawl of Hinds from teh West Indies team. Earlier this year, a groin injury caused him to miss VB Series in Australia.

Hinds, who has appeared in 8 Tests for the regional side, also had to return home from the 2002/03 tour of India with a knee injury.

Hinds' misfortune presents another opportunity for right-hander Donovan Pagon, who impressed with his poise in Guyana.
