WICB Director: I Never Saw Digicel Contract

Questions about the way the Digicel contract with the West Indies Cricket Board was negotiated arose yesterday with the statement by Enoch Lewis, a WICB director, that he had never seen a signed copy of the contract.

Lewis said this in a radio interview with Antigua journalist Colin James. James was having a radio discussion with former West Indies fast bowlers, Curtly Ambrose and Andy Roberts, when it was decided to call Lewis who is the Leeward Islands representative on the WICB.

Lewis then disclosed that he had never seen a signed copy of the controversial contract which is now the subject of an inquiry.

Yesterday, the three-man committee investigating the contract spent an hour at the WICB office in St John?s.

Antiguan journalists covering the event said members of the committee, Justice Anthony Lucky, Gregory Georges and Avandale Thomas left the office with stern and serious faces, clearly displeased with what had occurred at the WICB office. When asked about their visit, the committee members replied firmly ?no comment.?

While in Antigua yesterday, the Committee heard testimony from Gregory Shillingford, former WICB CEO, Enoch Lewis and Val Banks, vice president of the Board.
