Alleyne Ousted in BCA Shake-Up
In a stunning upset that will reverberate through the corridors of power at the WICB, Tony Marshall has defeated Stephen Alleyne in the race for the presidency of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA).
Alleyne, a senior WICB director who held the BCA post since 2000, was beaten in a very close vote, according to information reaching CaribbeanCricket.com. It was a bad night for incumbents with Desmond Haynes defeating David Holford for the post of first VP while another former West Indies cricketer, Joel Garner, displaced Jeff Broomes as third VP.
Philip Nicholls also lost his spot as honorary secretary to Vernon Williams in a vote that sees an almost entirely new board of management for Barbados cricket.
Only two incumbents prevailed -- Owen Estwick as second VP and Orson Simpson as honorary treasurer.
Bobby Goodman, Hartley Reid, Andrew Sealy and Philo Wallace were also elected to the board of directors.
