BCA Fires CEO Ricky Craig

The Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) has fired chief executive Ricky Craig, CaribbeanCricket.com confirmed on Thursday.

Craig, who was hired by former BCA boss Stephen Alleyne as a full-time employee of the national association, was dismissed after turning down an offer of a three-month contract extension.

Craig's departure was first reported by the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation.

Craig, a former president of the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA), offered a "no comment" to the CBC after the news of his dismissal emerged from a BCA board meeting.

Craig's tenure as CEO of the BCA has been somewhat controversial with allegations of electoral irregularities cropping up during several board of management elections.

It is well-known that the new BCA president Tony Marshall, who replaced Stephen Alleyne in a close vote earlier this year, was not fond of Craig's performance the past two years.

"We had that situation last year with the Trinidad team not getting adequate practice facility. That was an embarrassment to the BCA that was blamed on him [Craig]," the source explained.
