Lewis Tipped for T&T CEO Slot

Outgoing president of the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board, Ellis Lewis, is widely tipped to be the next CEO of the local board.

Lewis is expected to replace former president and current CEO, Alloy Lequay who will demit office at the end of this month. A Human Resource Manager at the Tobago Regional Health Authority, Lewis is one of two applicants.

In a heated election campaign two years ago at the 47th annual general meeting, Lewis was elected ahead of challenger Deryck Murray.

Lewis has opted out of Saturday?s election, giving way to Dudnath Ramkessoon, who is being challenged by Murray, a former West Indies Test wicketkeeper.

Lewis, who has worked through the ranks of the T&TCB, is the holder of BSc Government.

A graduate from the UWI Mona, Lewis, who is also a West Indies Cricket Board Executive Director, was a sports reporter with the Gleaner newspaper in Jamaica, and has served in many senior positions in institutions throughout the Caribbean.

Lewis was the Administrative Officer in the Ministry of Education in Jamaica and Personnel Officer at Dunlop Trinidad and Trinmar Limited.

The other applicant for the CEO post is former Queen?s Royal College teacher and cricket coach Earl Best.

The appointment of either Lewis or Best to fill the position will depend on Saturday?s crucial annual general meeting, of which the election of officers to run the affairs of the board for the next two years, will be high on the list of the agenda.
