Jimmy Adams Named WI U19 Manager

Former West Indies captain Jimmy Adams will replace Roger Harper as manager of the West Indies Under-19 squad.

According to information reacing CaribbeanCricket.com, Adams will join the squad and work alongside coach Roddy Estwick to prepare the teenagers for the 2006 ICC Youth World Cup in Sri Lanka.

Harper withdrew from the squad to accept a job as coach of the Kenya national team, opening the door for the return of Adams into the fold.

The 38-year-old Adams appeared in 54 Tests, scoring 3012 runs (avg. 41.26). He captained the West Indies in 15 Tests.

The 14-man squad will participate in a five-day camp before leaving for Pakistan for a series of warm-up matches before going on to Sri Lanka.

The Under-19 World Cup tournament runs from February 5-19. West Indies-19 were the runners up in the 2004 tournament held in Bangladesh.

Full squad: Leon Johnson (captain), Jason Mohammed, Richard Ramdeen, Gajanand Singh, Andre Fletcher, Nelon Pascal, Kemar Roach, Javon Searles, Sharmarh Brooks, Andre McCarthy, William Perkins, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Rishi Bachan.
