Haynes Out as WICB Director
Desmond Haynes has lost his seat as a director of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
According to a report in the Barbados Nation, Haynes lost a bid for re-election at a special meeting of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) members. His place on the WICB board will now be filled by Conde Riley, a long-time BCA board member.
Haynes resigned as secretary of the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA) exactly a year ago to become a WICB director.
The newspaper said Riley will join BCA president Tony Marshall as the two WICB directors from Barbados. In the vote, Marshall and Riley led the ballots with 89 and 73 votes respectively.
Haynes, a former West Indies opener who played in 116 Tests between 1978 and 1994, received only 51 votes.
The Barbados Nation also reported that Ricky Craig, whose services as CEO of the BCA ended in controversial circumstances less than a year ago, is now a member of the local board.
