Millien Out, WICB Appoints Replacement

The West Indies cricket Board (WICB) has named Paul Skinner to the new post of Commercial Manager.

Skinner, a Barbadian national who previously served as the WICB's sponsorship and events manager, will now assume responsibility for managing the Commercial and Business Development department of the board.

The new role will focus highly on growing current business and exploring new revenue streams for the WICB. In addition, the relationships developed with sponsors in his previous role will be further strengthened in the pursuit of expansion and progress of the business, the WICB said in a press release.

Skinner has a Degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He worked for 12 years with Shell Antilles and Guianas Ltd. and was responsible for the Shell Select Convenience store network in the Caribbean.

Skinner is effectively taking over from Darren Millien, the board's former chief marketing executive. It is not yet clear why Millien left the position but, according to information reaching CaribbeanCricket.com, he was asked by president Ken Gordon to take a pay cut in exchange for higher performance-based commissions.

WICB spokesman Tony Deyal did not respond to requests for comment on Millien's exit.

Asked to comment on Millien's exit, WICB spokesman Tony Deyal said: "The marketing department was restructured and Darren chose to leave."
