Riding on quickfire knocks from Glenn Phillips (40-ball 58) and Rovman Powell (23-ball 43*), Jamaica Tallawahs chased down an above-par 176 at Sabina Park to hand St Lucia Stars' 15th consecutive winless result on Wednesday.

Put into bat, Stars put up a good show with the bat, with useful contributions from Andre Fletcher (43), Lendl Simmons (22), Kieron Pollard (26), Darren Sammy (36) and an 8-ball 21 from No. 10 Kavem Hodge.

The start, however, wasn't the best with opener David Warner suffering another disappointment, getting bowled for 7. Fletcher, nonetheless, laid a solid platform with a half-century stand with Simmons, who had become a spectator in the partnership despite tonking Imad Wasim for a boundary and a six in the spinner's first over. Once the stand was broken by Andre Russell in the eighth over, it paved way for a brief collapse.

With wickets falling quickly, the scoring rate also came in check. Skipper Pollard hung around as the visitors were reduced from 66 for 1 to 125 for 5, in a space of 7.3 overs. Oshane Thomas and Adam Zampa pulled the initiative back in favour of Tallawahs with three wickets each.
