Ramdin: I Tried To Build Partnerships
KARACHI, Pakistan -- West Indies wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin who scored a crucial half century for the West Indies in the first innings of the third Test match against Pakistan spoke with the media after day three.
Following are excerpts of his comments...
On batting after losing Daren Ganga early:Daren was batting well, we decided to get a partnership going and we tried to get the score as close to Pakistan’s 304. He went out there (this morning) things didn’t go his way and he got out and I had to take it up on my own to build partnerships with the lower order and I tried my best to do that.
On how the pitch is playing:
I think it's playing better now, it's even and there is something for the bowlers as well (since) there is a bit of doubt in the batsman's mind, it's just to go out there and work hard. On the first day there wasn't any bounce but going into the second and third day there was a bit more bounce which is a lot better.
On what score the West Indies would be comfortable chasing:
Probably 320-330, around that.
On whether this was his best half century:
I think this is one of my best half centuries, going out there and showing character batting with the lower order. At the end of the day I did well and tried to put my team close to Pakistan’s score.
On whether he would now like to cement his place in the Windies team:
I haven't been in the side for a couple One Dayers and this is another opportunity for me to go out there and perform and save my position, both Tests and One Dayers.
