Carib Beer Cup: Round 2 Summary
The second round of the Carib Beer Cricket Series ground to a rather sodden close today, with no victories in any of the matches and no result at all in one.
Once again rain dogged Guyana, this time in Trinidad, where more than half the match was lost to the elements. Eventually Guyana won the toss and sent the home team in, with hopes of running through them and gaining at least first innings points from a match that had no chance of an outright result.
T&T thwarted their plans and eventually declared on 272 for 4, to have their own unsuccessful attempt at a rout, and the match ended with no result with Guyana having reached 171 for 2. Two brights rays of sunshine that did shine through the clouds were the diminutive 16 yr old Adrian Barath, who applied himself well to score 73 runs for the home side, and Keiron Pollard, who blazed his 69 off 31 deliveries.

In St Lucia, at Beausejour, Jamaica quickly lost interest in pressing the issue after gaining first innings points and a 38 run lead over the Windward Islands. They plodded along through much of the final day, and were eventually dismissed for 293. Jamaica were perhaps mindful of having been 170 for no loss in their first innings, and then sliding to 289 all out. With no hope of a result, the match meandered aimlessly through the afternoon until, mercifully, the stumps were drawn with the Windwards on 69 for no loss. Jermaine Lawson, who once took 7 for 78 to wreck Australia, suggested that the fire hadn't gone out as he claimed 6 for 70 runs in the first innings.

Finally, in another rain-affected match, Barbados took away first innings points from the Leeward Islands, with Ryan Austin claiming 6 wickets for 86. Barbados continues to lead the table with 18 points after two rounds.
