Fidel: It was a long, hard day
West Indies fast bowler Fidel Edwards who picked up five wickets in the English first innings spoke with the media at the end of the fourth day.
Following are excerpts from the Barbadian pacer's responses to various issues raised with him by journalists.
On it being a tough day in the field for the West Indies:
It's been a long and hard day for me in the field. We were down one bowler short, missing (Dwayne) Bravo (ankle injury) but the guys pulled through it. He (Bravo) is an important bowler for us, he is the type of bowler who will get you a wicket but he is OK to bat.
On whether he was pleased to pick up five wickets:
It is pretty good to get five wickets but I am disappointed in the way I bowled to get the five wickets. I bowled too many four balls and I went for over a hundred, I don't think many bowlers would love to go for over a hundred.
On whether he enjoyed getting the wicket of Kevin Pietersen:
I tried to give him a couple of short balls when he came in because he has been out on a few occasions this series to the short ball. He has been very aggressive to us and it was good for us to get him so early in the evening yesterday (Sunday evening).
On the Paul Collingwood/Matt Prior seventh wicket partnership:
The guys (Collingwood and Prior) came in and played good innings. They got England out of trouble but what we had to do was keep sticking to it and bowl to our plans and we didn't bowl to our plans as well as we should have.
On the batsmen to come in the West Indies second innings:
Shiv has been batting pretty well this series for us and he is still there at the wicket. Chris (Gayle) is still there as well, those two are very experienced batsmen and we still have (Dwayne) Bravo and Marlon Samuels to come as well.
We will be looking to go out there and bat out the day tomorrow (Tuesday). I don't think we will be going out there tomorrow (Tuesday) looking to win this match. At this stage a draw would be pretty good for us.
