WI team stuck in London
Three days after completing its final tour game in Ireland, the West Indies cricket team remain holed up in a hotel in London, awaiting flights back to the Caribbean.
The players (minus Chanderpaul and Powell who are off on county cricket duty) are stuck in a Gatwick hotel awaiting word from the WICB secretariat about plans for their return home.
The team flew from Ireland to London on Sunday but WICB officials apparently were unable to book flights for the squad to leave London.
The delay is obviously costing the WICB a pretty penny. By some calculations, the board will spend about US$15,000 to US$18,000 in hotel bills, meal allowances and other expenses.
CaribbeanCricket.com has learned that some players are booked to travel tomorrow (Wednesday) but others are on standby.
This latest episode comes after three players arrived late for the ODI portion of the tour because of administration bungling at the WICB level.
