Garner is new B'dos cricket boss

Former West Indies fast bowler Joel Garner is the new president of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA).

Garner defeated marketing executive Calvin Hope in elections held Thursday at the Sherbourne Conference Centre. He collected 173 votes to beat Hope, who polled 133 votes.

Garner, a director on the Stanford 20/20 board, will automatically become a member of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

Conde Riley, a current director of the West Indies Cricket Board, will serve as first Vice-President after defeating former Barbados captain Philo Wallace 215-80.

The BCA's presidency was thrown into the spotlight earlier this month after former president KHL Tony Marshall announced he was stepping down from the post after two years in charge.
