Ramnarine: CEO still hasn't addressed issues
Full text of a statement from WIPA president Dinananth Ramnarine:
I refer to Mr. Aanensen’s media release of July 26th "WICB CEO responds to Ramnarine" and comment as follows:
Mr. Aanensen can write his opinion and make allegations against me personally which I intend to deal with in another forum, however I must respond to misleading to information with regards to the business of WIPA.
Fact 1: I did not write any letter from the players concerning their displeasure with Mr. Aanensen’s comments about them. I have shown the letter to the President Designate and he has expressed satisfaction that the letter was in fact sent by the players. Hopefully, Mr. Aanensen will now also be satisfied and apologize for his accusation.
Fact 2: Mr. Aanensen’s letter dated July 23rd, 2007 states that WIPA had not submitted proposals regarding the UK tour. But it should be noted that WIPA has been requesting financial information since 22nd June 2007 on which WIPA’s proposals would be based. However, on July 24th the requested financial information was received.
Fact 3: I quote the Newsday Release of June 23rd, in which the following was reported, “WIPA wants the Board to give them 110% of revenue and run West Indies cricket in debt apparently. The players are not doing the job but they want more money despite being incompetent” said Aanensen. How does this report tie in with his media release that: “This statement was the subject of a discussion with a radio host who interviewed me about a series of matters and is not my statement”.
In summary, WIPA is disappointed that yet again, the substantive issues raised in my letter dated July 12th, have not been addressed.
However, WIPA remains optimistic that a better relationship will be forged under the new administration.
