Brooks named WI U-19 captain
Barbados Under-19 skipper Shamarh Brooks has been appointed captain of the West Indies squad for the 2008 Under 19 World Cup tournament to be held in Malaysia starting next month. Guyana's Steven Jacobs as the vice captain.
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) said the squad will gather in Barbados from January 24, 2008, for a specially designed training session similar to the one held for the WI Senior Team last year. The camp will cover mental, physical, technical and tactical areas.The Under 19 squad will also play four one-day practice matches from January 29 – February 8 in Bangladesh before leavig for Malaysia.
In Malaysia, the team will have two warm-up or familiarisation games on February 12 against Sri Lanka and February 14 against Zimbabwe.
The WICB also announced that Cyde Butts will manage the Team supported by Larry Gomes as Coach.
