Where's the World Cup financial report?
The Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) is still waiting for a financial report from the World Cup.
According to a report distributed by the Caribbean Media Corporation, Trinidad & Tobago is still not sure whether World Cup profits handed over to the local organisation committee will be shared with the cricket board.
Managing director of Cricket World Cup 2007 Inc, Chris Dehring, was supposed to have submitted a financial report to the directors of the board, but this has not yet been done."We have not received anything from the World Cup and we don't know if we are to get anything," said Deryck Murray, head of the TTCB and a director of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
"We were supposed to receive a copy of the financial report last September, but up until now, we have not got anything. So I am not in a position to say how much, if any, money will be given to the T&T Cricket Board."
T&T has received US$1.05 million from the West Indies Cricket Board as their share of the proceeds from the last year's Cricket World Cup.
It was estimated that the board would have made in the region of US$20 million from the tournament through television rights, sponsorships and as hosts of the tournament.
The agreement between the WICB and the territorial boards was that 80 per cent of the profits would remain with the WICB, while the other 20 per cent would be shared among the six territorial boards, to assist with their development programmes.
The money given to the different LOCs came from ticket sales in the different countries.
An official of the board told CMC Sports Monday that the delay in declaring the board's profit from the tournament and the payouts to the respective territorial boards, was due to queries with some of the regional LOCs.
