Gayle joins Jamaica 20/20 Squad

West Indies captain Chris Gayle is ready for a return to competitive cricket after a spate of injuries caused him to miss the latter half of the recent South Africa tour.

Gayle has been added to Jamaica's squad to play against Nevis in the the Stanford 20/20 on February 16. He takes over the captaincy from Tamar Lambert, who was dropped altogether from the side.

The Jamaican selectors also included four players who were away on duty with the West Indies side -- Marlon Samuels, Brenton Parchment, Jerome Taylor and Darren Powell.

Among those dropped (in addition to Lambert) were fast bowler Jermaine Lawson and all-rounder Brendan Nash.

The winner of the Jamaica/Nevis match will advance to the second semi-final on February 23, where they will play the winner of the Antigua vs Guyana encounter scheduled for February 17.
