WICB ignores first-team for ODIs
Despite the regular players making themselves available for selection, information from a well placed source, is that the West Indies Cricket Board will not change the squad selected for the First and Second Digicel One Day Internationals against Bangladesh in Dominica.
The Floyd Reifer led squad will remain in place, according to a report on DigicelCricket.com.
This would mean regular players such as captain Chris Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Dwayne Bravo, Denesh Ramdin, Jerome Taylor and others will remain at home despite being available for selection following the WICB/WIPA/Caricom meeting in Guyana on Tuesday.
With four full days remaining before the First Digicel ODI on Sunday there is clearly enough time for a first choice squad to be assembled but it appears as though the WICB will stick with the players it had contracted.
The replacement squad lost the Digicel Test Series 2-0, allowing Bangladesh their first ever overseas Test Series win and their first ever back-to-back wins. Eight of the players from that Test squad are in the ODI squad with six players coming in.
The eight are: Reifer, Sammy, Bernard Jr, Dowlin, Miller, Pascal, Richards and Roach. The six who have joined them are: Fletcher, Lewis, Powell, Smith, Thomas and Tonge.
Full squad:
Floyd Reifer (Captain), Darren Sammy (Vice Captain), David Bernard Jr, Travis Dowlin, Andre Fletcher, Rawl Lewis, Nikita Miller, Nelon Pascal, Kieran Powell, Dale Richards, Kemar Roach, Devon Smith, Devon Thomas, Gavin Tonge
