Spin trips up WI U-19s again

GEORGETOWN, Guyana – Another batting collapse, again triggered by spin, put West Indies Under-19s on course for a four-wicket defeat in the fourth Youth One-day International against Bangladesh Under-19s on Monday here.

This time, the Windies Under-19 batting was undermined by off-spinner Mehedy Hasan, the Bangladesh captain, as they were bowled out for 143 in 46.3 overs on a typically slow, low Everest pitch.

Ray Jordan and Ramaal Lewis, the home team captain, grabbed two wickets apiece to make a fight of it, but Nazmul Hossain Shanto anchored the visitors to victory with 62 deliveries remaining, hitting 60 from 96 balls that included five fours.

The result gave the visitors a 2-1 lead in the series, after the hosts won the first match by six wickets last Monday at the Guyana National Stadium before losing by 63 runs last Wednesday at Bourda Oval and 198 runs last Friday at the Guyana National Stadium.
