WI Women set back by 9-run defeat

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – West Indies Women failed to build on the work of openers Stafanie Taylor and Juliana Nero, and stumbled to a nine-run defeat at the hands of New Zealand Women in the Women’s Twenty20 International Tri-Series on Sunday here.

Chasing 102 for victory, the Windies Women appeared to be on course when Taylor and Nero put on 44 for the first wicket inside the first 10 overs, but they too, were part of a batting collapse as the hosts lost their way either side of a half-hour rain stoppage in the fourth match of the tournament at Kensington Oval.

Taylor gathered the top score of 24 and Nero made 20, but no other batsman passed 10, as the West Indies Women lost eight wickets for 48 runs in the second half of the innings
