West Indies face huge hurdle as NZ take charge

New Zealand applied all the pressure to get themselves into a powerful situation, leading by 542 runs with eight West Indies first innings wickets left heading into day three of the first Test at the University Oval in Dunedin on Thursday.

Scoring the fourth highest score in their Test history, New Zealand declared at 609-9 leaving Ross Taylor unbeaten on 217, the 13th New Zealander to score a double century. Their best against the West Indies had been 543-3at Georgetown, Guyana in 1972.
