Pooran ton not enough to save Under-19s

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Nicholas Pooran's innings of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the Middle East was not enough to save the West Indies Under Under-19 team from going under to Australia Under-19.

The Young Windies collapsed to 70/8 after winning the toss and electing to bat first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. However, Pooran joined up with pacer Jerome Jones and both resisted the Aussie attack.

The ninth-wicket stand produced an Under-19 record of 136 runs. Jones made a patient 20. However, the spotlight was on Pooran, who struck 143 runs from 160 balls. Of the 23 boundaries in the Windies innings, Pooran hit 20 of them. He hit 14 Fours and 6 Sixes.
