Miller, Jacobs keep Jamaicans on top
KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Leeward Islands Hurricanes found themselves once again battling to stave off defeat after their batting let them down on the second day of their fourth round encounter here Saturday.
At the close at Sabina Park, the visitors were 155 for six in their second innings – only 36 runs on with four wickets remaining.
Earlier, Jamaica Franchise were bowled out in their first innings for 222 – a lead of 119 runs – after resuming from their overnight 165 for seven.
Nikita Miller, on 50 overnight, made 62 while Damian Jacobs, who began the day on 33, made 41.
Singh hundred puts Jaguars in command
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Captain Vishaul Singh struck his maiden first class hundred as leaders Guyana Jaguars took command of their fourth round match in the WICB Professional Cricket League against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force here Saturday.
The left-hander was unbeaten on 115 at the close of Satuday’s second day as Jaguars batted all day to reach 300 for five in their first innings – already a lead of 102 runs at Queen’s Park Oval.
Singh has so far faced 176 balls, in 229 minutes and counted 14 boundaries.
He received support from opener Rajindra Chandrika who got 60 and Barbadian all-rounder Raymon Reifer who scored 58.
Shimron Hetmyer chipped in with 31 while left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein led the T&T attack with two for 52.
Chase propels Pride with maiden ton
KINGSTOWN, St Vincent, CMC – Roston Chase’s maiden first class hundred proved the catalyst for Barbados Pride but Windward Islands Volcanoes were in strong reply, on the second day of their fourth round match at Arnos Vale.
The right-handed Chase converted his overnight 56 into an unbeaten 120 as Barbados rattled up 352 in their first innings on t backSaturday, in their WICB Professional Cricket League contest.
Captain Carlos Brathwaite added just four to his overnight 25, leaving Chase to shepherd the lower order and push Barbados to a more than respectable score.
