JCA fallout over Cameron decision

Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) director Cecil Fletcher has reportedly tendered his resignation, effective immediately.

The St James Cricket Association president is said to have signalled his intent following a meeting of the board of directors of the JCA on Tuesday at its Sabina Park offices.

The meeting, among other matters, saw the JCA deciding not to support Jamaican Whycliffe 'Dave' Cameron in his re-election bid for the post of president of West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), which will take place during the regional body's annual general meeting next month.

The JCA directors instead voted 10-6 in favour of the candidacy of former West Indies fast bowler and president of Barbados Cricket Association Joel Garner.

"A letter (of resignation) has been received. However, there's a process which guides these type of matters," Fritz Harris, honorary secretary of the JCA, told The Gleaner yesterday.

"This process includes discussion with the member and at the end of that you may have an acceptance or non-acceptance.

"It is, therefore, way too early now to say what the likely outcome will be," he added.
