NLR recommendations blanked by TTCB

RECOMMENDATION FOR changes to the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TT CB) constitution, which were put forward by the Dinanath Ramnarine- led National League Representatives (NLR) were voted against at the TT CB Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday evening.

The closed door meeting, at the National Cricket Centre in Couva, was attended by 47 of the 49 members and lasted from 3.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

Three of the major recommendations regularly championed by NLR namely — one club and one vote system; elimination of outgoing votes; and terms limits for presidents were defeated 25-14, 26-16 and 26-12 respectively.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, TT CB president Azim Bassarath gave his and the Board’s take on how the meeting played out, while also touching on issues that were mentioned by NLR in the media over the past month.

“It was a long exhausting meeting, the longest part was the three hours of deliberation over the constitution. I think there were some people who came prepared to support recommendations from Mr Ramnarine.
