Ragoonath steers clear of Emrit ‘demotion’

Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) CEO Suruj Ragoonath is washing his hands of the recommendation made by national selectors to strip Rayad Emrit of his captaincy. National coach Gus Logie on Friday confirmed to Newsday that the Selection Panel (Raphick Jumadeen - chairman, Anthony Gray, Lalman Kowlessar and Roland Sampath) had made the proposal to the Board of the TTCB for ratification.

Emrit and Ragoonath have been in somewhat of a war of words with the former alleging that the CEO told Red Force players they were free to participate in foreign Twenty20 leagues during the course of the domestic season without consequence.

Emrit, Kevon Cooper and Evin Lewis all participated in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League but lost their retainer contracts as a result.
