KINGSTOWN, St Vincent (CMC) — Opener Kraigg Brathwaite has credited his hero Shivnarine Chanderpaul for helping him to his maiden Test double-century against Bangladesh here Saturday.

The 21-year-old Brathwaite spent 38 nervous balls in the 190s before finally breaking the shackles by sweeping off-spinner Mahmudullah to the ropes to reach his landmark.

He was unbeaten on 205 at the close of the second day of the first Test, with West Indies on 407 for three at Arnos Vale.

Kudos to Kraigg for his double-century and giving credit to Chanderpaul. A good example of Chanderpaul the team player.

Kraig is a good Cawmere boy who knows about propriety. That said I would not expect him to say in an interview that Shiv made him nervous in his quest for a double by batting slow and making the bowlers feel they were on top.

Dude, if Kraig is level headed, and sees in Shiv qualities that can propel his game, then great.

But you can't blame Shiv for adding stability and encouragement to Kraig...just imagine Kraig batting and wickets falling all over the place...ala 1st session day 3?

Except for batting with his pupil there was nothing positive about Shiv's batting that day. Perhaps you can point to something. There is a lot to be said about Kraig bigging up his cricketing idol tho

In reply to sudden... well the second part of your post was lost due to the first part. A see you trying.

Everyone will agreee that Shiv had a bad day at the office on Friday....but after spending over 20 years at your craft, aren't you entitled to at least that?

Who would have known this better than Shiv himself? However that is what resilience, determination, pride and professionalism is all about!

Shiv the consumate professional batsman.

Not getting out and inspiring Kraigg to his double-century was Chanderpaul's main priority that day.

Mission accomplished!! big grin big grin big grin

The issue is the ungratefulness shown towards shiv by some bloggers.

Even that blogger who has a PHD in pitch rolling and outfield setting. big grin
