MUMBAI, India (CMC): An uptempo, run-a-ball hundred by Denesh Ramdin was not enough to save West Indies from their second straight tour defeat as they went down by 16 runs to India A yesterday.
Chasing a challenging 282 at the Wankhede Stadium, the Windies could only muster 266 for nine off their 50 overs, with Ramdin leading the way with a sparkling 102.
Jason Holder further enhanced his growing reputation as an all-rounder with 54 from 42 deliveries, while former Test and one-day skipper Darren Sammy stroked 50 from 67 balls. But the rest or the batting faltered to leave the Windies short of their target.

Well, Sammy is doing just enough to stay relevant in the WI team, but Holder seems to be the allrounder of the future. Well done by Ramdin, his batting is finally more consistent.

In reply to dayne... been that way for 2yrs now. Seems Viv lit a fyre or he listened to me and stopped premeditating his next shot, regardless of the ball bowled.

I am very happy for Ramdin and his form. Fine form when compared to other international keepers this past year. He has worn his added responsibilities well.. He has never batted this well. I think he will continue.

I know, 95% of the cricketers in the caribbean are tail enders in this one day format.

A very weak team in all aspects.. Bowler short and no batsmen.
Sammuels has to be there and so should Blackwood and Johnson. You cant build the game on some half allrounders.

You pick 4 bowlers just as me yet you gawn say a bowler short.
Samuels done fuh me. He can be as good as he was in 2012, I have no time for him.
Them half bit allrounders is better and more effective than some of those specialist bats.
You say my team is very weak in all aspects...no scene, I agree my ODI team, just like any ODI team we put out there including yours is very weak.

Any team that we form now is Weak because of the way we had built the team over the past few years Andy.
The reason I want to Blood Blackwood, Johnson and also Carter is to give ourselves some option of batsmen who can defend for the team if needed.
Dwayne Smith, Pollard, Russel, Sammy are all aggressive batsmen who cannot stick in the wicket for more than 10 overs. Dwayne Bravo and Simmo again are not consistent. When you have 5 of these guys + 4 Bowlers it is a disaster waiting to happen.
I wish atleast 1 or 2 of the BATSMEN show up during the Indian and SA series so that we can have a much more balanced team during the WC.

Any team that we form now is Weak because of the way we had built the team over the past few years Andy.
Deo, Powell, Kuk, Fletcher, Hyatt, Devon Smith, Dowlin, Parchment, Nash, Findlay, Richards, Marshall and Chattergoon, all of those guys got chances after Lara left, we are FORCED to field the team we have been over the last 2 years or so because BATSMEN aren't performing.
The reason I want to Blood Blackwood, Johnson and also Carter is to give ourselves some option of batsmen who can defend for the team if needed.

Pacy, doh let style and and reputation fool you. Deal with reality. Guys like Dwayne Smith and Pollard probably plays more longer innings in 50 over cricket than those you mentioned.
All well to bat slowly or block but it doh make a difference if you cyah last 30 balls or make 30 runs as is the case with most of our bats.
So its a disaster waiting to happen....Pacy so what if the drop Smith, Bravo, Pollard, Sammy and Russell and play Carter, Powell, Johnson and Blackwood you think it gawn be a facking party?
Sometimes when you speak I feel like you're watching WI cricket from afar but I know that is not the case as you does follow things closely.
I guess Jamaica, Guyana, Leewards, T&T, Barbados and WWI does pack themselves with allrounders thus explaining the pathetic scores in the region because as you seem to be saying their are bats who can bat long and score.
