WICB Press Realease
Kingston, Jamaica – The West Indies Cricket Board, the West Indies Players Association and representatives of the West Indies Squad on the tour of India held an emergency meeting on Sunday evening at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica.

The meeting was cordial, positive and fruitful and discussions will continue in an effort to find a way forward following the premature end of the tour of India.

The WICB was represented by President Dave Cameron, Director Don Wehby and attorney Luke Hamel-Smith.

WIPA was represented by President and Chief Executive Officer Wavell Hinds, Secretary Wayne Lewis and attorney Patrick Foster QC.

Representing the players who were on the West Indies Squad to India (with the exception of Marlon Samuels) was attorney Ralph Thorne QC. Thorne also represented the interests of Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine and Lendl Simmons. Also in attendance were players Andre Russell and Jason Holder.

To let you know they are talking

This release is like many of the articles written by Caribbean journalist. When you click the link for more you realize that was in-fact the entire article. Completely useless info if they were not going to say what was discussed or next steps.

I hope the meeting takes on board that Windies cricket is not just about the so called 'senior players'. There must be money allocated for the development of the other players and our cricket infrastructure.

There is something ridiculous about a whole heap of bottom of the cricket table players and administrators all posturing with their lawyers.

When You aint have money , you cannot be high & Mighty . To use a Cricket phrase , the WICB is batting on a sticky Wicket .

Now is the time , in my opinion the Regional Governments should pounce on those in the governance of Cricket in the Region and demand serious structural changes .

Having to be in danger of paying millions of dollars to the BCCI aint something to sneeze at . The Players could survive monetary sanctions ; however that aint the case with the Worst International Cricket Board in the World ; aka the WICB .

Yeah, who is representing the interests of Shiv, Brathwaite, Blackwood, Johnson, Shillingford & Gabriel, et al?

Why de Fook, didn't this meeting take place in India, after Bravos first letter made it very clear that a pull-out by the players was a very real possibility?

Cameron & Hinds should resign for that inaction alone!

Facking BCCI already decide and moved on from this crap and WICB still addressing this at the ground level!!!

The report didn't say how much of the $65M was raised so far ... if these fellas will work for food, cash or kind, etc ...

They didn't even mention the call-in numbers: 1-800-WIA-HBEG, 1-800-WIS-ARRY, etc.

I was just curious while someone who was not on tour, like Chris Gayle, would be represented by the lawyer for the aggrieved players but not Shiv and the others who would have been in the test squad.

As a loyal,vocal and passionate West Indies cricket fan I will donate $5 EC to the Board to help repay the $65M US, and call on the players and members of this board to 'dip u hand' if you care about preserving our only international WI institution.

And ah miss de dam game.. enough..

According to the WICB this was a preplanned meeting prior to the start of the dispute. So why didn't they move it forward once the gravity of the situation became clear.

As far as the players were concerned they were never made aware of any such meeting anyhow. Even Marlon made that known. So that meeting was either never really planned or if it was it was inadequately communicated.

Myself, I believe that the WICB just made this one up to try and diminish their embarrassment over what was clearly a performance of shocking inadequacy, even allowing for the institution involved.

Well...seeing that the WICBC and the WIPA weren't willing to come to India to talk to the players, the players decided to come home to talk to them
