Dambulla, Sri Lanka - West Indies A fell just six runs short off their revised target in a rain-hit 1st One Day versus Sri Lanka A at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

After rain hit, the regional side were given a revised target of 78 runs from 20 overs after Sri Lanka A had scored 245/8 from their 50 overs. The West Indies A could only muster 71/2 before they ran out of overs.

Kraigg Brathwaite scored a patient 24 runs from 44 balls while fellow opener, Nkrumah Bonner, was equally cautious in his approach, hitting 21 runs from 45 balls.

Earlier, Lahiru Thirimanne led Sri Lanka A's charge after the hosts were put in to bat. Thirimanne top scored for Sri Lanka A with 74. There were also half-centuries for wicket-keeper, Dinesh Chandimal (60) and Thilina Kandamby (58*).

The rain came a dun it one time and at that point we were salt. So they were not pathetic unless it was obvious the rain would dun it and they were still farting around and not pushing up the run rate.

When I first saw the card on cricinfo first thought was when did the rain come and did they know what the target at 20 would've been.
Well according to cricinfo commentary this was the equation when the 20th over had been completed THEN there was the rain delay that ended the match.
So can't blame them for not getting it in 20 overs, unless it was a day match and they could've saw the rain threat coming.
But even if there was no rain their approach wasn't good going at 3 and a half an over with just 2 wickets down isn't good enough when the required rate at that time was 2 runs more than what they were scoring at.

They only scored three. In the last two overs to get behind the rate...the rain must have been unexpected?
