HEADLINE: Bravo! West Indies won't walk this time around

CaribbeanCricket.com Nov 6, 2014, 3:23:37 AM

West Indian ODI captain Dwayne Bravo, the man who led the West Indies' walkout in India last month, will turn out for the Dolphins in the Ram Slam T20 this month.

And he has given his assurance that there will be no repeat of the Indian fiasco with the West Indies tour to this country later this year.

Speaking upon his arrival yesterday, Bravo said a full-strength West Indian team across all formats would tour South Africa next month.

The West Indies were still due to play an ODI and three Tests in India when they aborted the tour because of a pay dispute with the West Indies Player Association and the West Indian Cricket Board.

Four of the five West Indian players taking part in the Ram Slam T20 would have been part of the Test side, with Bravo aiming to keep himself fresh for next year's World Cup, and Darren Sammy having retired from Test cricket.

have they settled the issue that caused the problem in India?

One thing I would advice Bravo is to keep his mouth zipped. I think he is overconfident that WICB would uphold the commitment given to the Prime Ministers. BUt I would rather expect Bravo to wait and see what happens.

All you need to know is that Dwayne gave his word to the Hon Prime Ministers.

His respect for these Honorable Gentlemen is of such that he will not disrespect them by going back on his word in the manner which the educated fools (WICB Directors)were about to do.

Just a question - the players walked out of the series. Right?

Why should they be given any reassurances that action wouldn't be taken against them?

This is a brilliant move by Bravo ; BRAVO!!!
What he has done is to put the WICB in a spot if it decides to fire any of the Players from touring South Africa .

Note he stated " A Full Strength Team " in my opinion he has out maneuvered the WICB if it decides to send a Team that is not full strength , the South African Cricket Board can behave like the BCCI and threaten to sue .

I think this is just Bravo trying to save his ass from being sacked / dropped.

Wicb selection committee can pick whoever they want, and south African board will have no say on the matter.

I feel the players who striked in India, after having issues with their own union should face some repercussions.

There has not be no assurances. WICB and WIPA messed up but Players decided to withold their services which could have impact which they should face. Action on all the parties are completely justified since everyone had a role in this mess.

I would like to know who all are to be sacked for this fiasco?

Any idea why Cameron would have accepted the No sacking with the Prime Minister?

So you mean to say Bravo being part of the Meeting with WICB and Prime Ministers would have any impact in what he said?

I feel the players who striked in India, after having issues with their own union should face some repercussions.

again, Players did not have issues only with WIPA. They had issues wiht certain terms of the MOU which was signed by WICB and WIPA. So the fight is not just with the WIPA.

That's what these peeps on the MB do not seem to understand-The selectors can pick who they deem fit to tour with the side--They did not agree to any non-victimization or repercussions?

Plus, what guarantee does the board have that another fiasco by Idiot Bravo and company will not happen--? Will the WICB RISK facing another multi-million dollar suit?

I just find this 'I don't care what the truth is, I sympathize with the players' attitude so stupid.

The players screwed this up, and they ought to face the repercussions. Period.

It's partly Ramnarine's fault. That idiot, with his militant ways, made the players believe they can get away with murder, and these stupid players actually believe that

Absolutely!! If you are going to take drastic actions that jeopardize the very organization that pays your salary you better have a legitimate and high moral ground to stand or else face the repercussions of your folly--

They are like Rebels w/o a cause--What sense does that make?

They all shd go--

You may be right but as I have stated he
has boxed in , to some degree ThOSE IN THE GOVERNANCE OF CRICKET IN THE REGION .

In essence if he and others are not in the Tour Party , those in the governance of Cricket in the Region , are not going to enjoy good Press Reports , immediately after
the India Tour fiasco .

Is it only the players who screwed up Brian? Just like how some support players there are a few like you who dont see anything wrong with the mismanagement of WI cricket.

Who all should be sacked for this Saga Brian?

Why do u continue to talk such SHITE?

We just were witness to the fact that the WICB did try and send a second string team to India, and the BCCI said "No facking way mon".

So what makes you think that the SACB will be any more accommodating. You have no facking idea what requirements are contained in the bilateral agreement between the WI & SA boards. That being the case, shut de hell up and stop spreading fiction.

You seem oblivious of the fact that what Bravo was doing is in essence to make a preemptive strike , during a lull when those in the governance of Cricket in the Region
publicly stated that there was no intention
to victimize Players .

What do you think will happen if the Players
are fired after , what Bravo stated . Please bear in mind , that Bravo made that statement in South Africa , so there was , as can be expected , wide Media coverage in South Africa regarding what he stated .

Look, foreign boards cannot decide who represents us.

The BCCI was out of line, and if this matter goes to court, we will be proved right

Foreign Boards might not invite us all then just like How Bang and Zim are not in the thick of cricketing demographics.

With players striking, we might get booted out sooner.

We've been losing since 1995, yet everyone's hosting us, for long tours to boot.

We didn't tour sri lanka over terrorist threats once, no one said anything at all.

This strike over an issue with their own union will earn them no sympathy

rhatid Nov 8, 2014, 5:53:38 AM

I don't think Bravo was consciously making a preemptive strike. He is not smart enough. I think he was just running off his stupid mouth and venturing into areas he knows nothing about. I really didn't envision someone coming along to do worse damage to West Indies cricket than Brian Lara. But what Lara did was child's play compared to what this knucklehead did. You will see what I mean when BCCI get finished with them. And if the WICB allows these a..holes to get away with what they did, then they will be proven to be even bigger a..holes!
