The fact that West Indies have actually taken a full-strength team to South Africa is both reassuring and confusing.

Coming off the events of the abandoned India tour, it seemed almost certain a repeat of the events of the 2009 home series versus Bangladesh would occur and a second-string team would be sent to South Africa. Also, despite intervention from the CARICOM political leaders, India's US$42 million threat loomed large, ready to cripple the West Indies board's finances catastrophically.


Talk of the West Indies team being disbanded like the former football nations of USSR and Yugoslavia was gaining serious traction from Jamaica in the north to Guyana in the south.

Talk is cheap. The fact is no two Caribbean nations combined could survive in international cricket, never mind one. All this talk about disbanding West Indies cricket is just, talk. Our focus should be trying to get West Indies cricket, in its correct format, back to being number one in the world again.

I disagree...if Jamaican netball can secure bronze in the Commonwealth Games, and if Jamaican athletes can be top of the world, in team events such as relays, then why not cricket?

I knew that long ago , but many FOOLS beg to differ . Many people in the Region unfortunately believe that the individual countries in the Region , can , as they love to preach " GO IT ALONE ".

They are a deluded bunch ; but hell , who am I to try changing their minds , but if they want to have their Countries play with the likes of Argentina , Holland ; Ireland forever , rather than being in the Big League . They can go right ahead .
