After hammering a match-winning 90 that helped West Indies win the Twenty20 series against South Africa, Chris Gayle launched a scathing attack on the West Indies Cricket Board and the Clive Lloyd-led selection panel for dropping the senior pair of Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard from the ODI series and the World Cup. Repeatedly labelling the move as "ridiculous", Gayle felt it was a case of "victimisation" against the two Trinidadian allrounders.

"How can those two guys not be in the team?" Gayle, who is the first current player to raise his voice against the omissions, said during the post-match media conference at Wanderers. "To me it got to be like victimisation when you look at it towards those two guys. Come on, guys. It is just ridiculous. Come on. Ridiculous. Really hurt. Ridiculous. Honestly, it throw me off. We can only talk. We can express our feelings, which I'm doing at this point in time. The squad already is announced. It is just sad."

I agree!! and Chris running is mouth off again. Not only did Bravo as former captain messed up WICB by leading the strike, I think the side is more balanced without him and Pollard. Also their ODI performance for the last year is not that good. With D. Smith back as opener, this allows Simmons to move down to cement the middle-order with Samuels. If you look at the team - Smith, Samuels and Simmons have played better ODI cricket recently than Pollard and Bravo. Definitely we will miss Bravo and Pollard fielding but we do have better all-rounders now in the squad including Sammy. Holder is now been groomed as the bowling all-rounder and I think he will do well in this position. I am not too sure of him being the captain but lets hope he does well.

Interesting when we one of the 2 was part of the ICC ODI team... Looks like ICC selectors are some dumb guys.

Batting average of 46 and bowling average of 24 being not that good should mean WI should have had world beaters last year

Lets get the facts straight. On Pollard - he is very inconsistent in the ODI format. Everyone know that. But you are correct on Bravo. He was apart to the ICC ODI 2014 Team that was picked in early November last year with an overall average of 46 batting. But these are the facts. That average of 46 is mainly due to his average of 205.00 against NZ in January 2014 which includes 2 not-outs. For the last 6 months of 2014 is batting average was only 8.2 and his overall ODI average is 25.36.

I am not saying he not a good player. His all-round ability including enthusiasm and fielding was great for the team. But he definitely loss focus and was channeling his energy elsewhere!! His lack of runs in the last 6 months, lack of leadership and blatantly dissing the WICB - warrant them to replace him by players they believe can be just as good.

Chris ... their omission is not victimization. Neither is it ridiculous. Neither Bravo nor Pollard deserve a place in the 50 over team. They have been very poor performers for a very long time. They have promised much for too long and produced very little.
Now, about you Mr Gayle. Are you not in breach of some protocol in place which precludes you from pontificating in public on issues of selection and other matters whilst playing and under contract? Why would want to show public disagreement with our selectors? Especially for 2 players who clearly, based on their performances do not warrant selection? Did the Manager not brief you on what you should and should not say when facing the press? Or were you unable to curb your aggression after you bludgeoned the SA?
To me and in the eyes of many others you have now opened up yourself for public ridicule.
