St John’s, Antigua –The Board of Directors of the West Indies Cricket Board met in Antigua on Saturday, January 10, 2015. The Board deliberated on a number of matters including cricketing, governance, developmental, commercial and financial.

Significantly the Board of Directors adopted the recommendations of the Michael Gordon QC-chaired Task Force which examined matters leading to the premature end of the tour of India.

1.    Task Force Report

The Board adopted the recommendations of the report as follows:

(i)           The WICB will plan a team building activity in the first week of April, prior to the start of the England tour of the Caribbean. This activity will be geared towards building greater understanding and trust among the players, the Board of Directors and the WICB management.

(ii)          The Team Manager is the designated head of the West Indies Team delegation and reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The Head Coach is responsible for team performance.

(iii)        The players will be issued with Match/Tour contracts at least three weeks prior to departure for/start of a series.

(iv)        The WICB will pursue engaging the services of a Sports Psychologist for the West Indies Senior Team. The WICB will also pursue engaging the services of a Mental Skills Coach at the developmental levels.

(v)          The WICB will develop a Players Handbook which will be issued to all players. The handbook will outline responsibilities, expectations, protocols, standards and matters of general conduct.

You mean to tell me a player's handbook does not exist?

Looks like the WICB is run like a mom and pop shop

The actual recommendation:

5. The WICB print an Employees Handbook which will be given to WIPA and to

every player who represents the West Indies. The Handbook should include:

- A précis of the MOU and CBA

- Players manual with selection criteria

- The Retainer Contract

- Three (3) cricket formats – Test, ODI and T20

- A-team and Youth Team Tours

- CPL and WICB Professional Franchise

- Any other relevant information

The new press release misses some important things.

Always keeping them on their toes. They claim the accept the recommendations, then put out a list that's completely different from the actual recommendation.

IMAGINE , JUST IMAGINE , It had to take a freaking Task Force , selected by the WICB , to inform the WICB about
a section of what is entailed in :

FREAKING GOOD GOVERNANCE . Yet the
International Cricket Cabal allows these PEOPLE to be a Rogue Cricket Board . God Help us .

I would like to see all the recommended info in the player handbook.

Kudos to Dwayne bravo and the others who walked out of the Indian tour cause otherwise the board would not have been forced to implement this. Dwayne Bravo was the sacrificial lamb.

If is one thing I could never be, it is a West Indian cricketer, because I would nevah be able to tolerate the misdeeds of the Administration, including the Wavell WIPA, always working against the cricketers in treating them like dum arse field nxggxrs and kxxlixs.

The new press release misses some important things.

Not really.

The operative word is "should" and not "shall" which means it is left to their discretion.

If Cameron and his gang of crooks had even an ounce of integrity, they would all resign.

Pacy Jan 15, 2015, 4:30:36 AM

Is the "Building Trust" the task force said is the same as waht WICB is trying to do before the English tour... WICB would know better. Afterall they have highly learned men who have WI cricket in heart

DISBAND WICB
Implement Caricom Cricket Committee (CCC)
Change name of Team to Caribbean Cricket Team (CCT)
Change Team Colours to Blue and Gold to represent the Blue Waters and Sunshine of the Caribbean.

If Caribbean cricket is important to the people of the Caribbean , we cannot left it to a body of Nincompoops. DOWN with the WICB.
It was me who proposed the name change from WICBC . I asked them who were they seeking to control. Now I am asking for them to be disbanded. The folly has gone on for too long. The WICB is not a true entity. There is no West Indies(historical and navigational error by the drunkard -Columbus)
I am a man of action
Please note that it was me who proposed the Review system now prevalent in World Cricket. I propose it to the ICC and they accepted after some initial hesitation. I believe that if you go back here on this Forum , you will see when I made that proposal.
I now make this proposal and i know that it will take some time but it will happen. Things have already been put in a motion. Sometimes we as a people feel that we can do nothing and so we give up but it can be amazing what putting pen to paper and putting a case can achieve.

I hear you , however you are asking for Miracles , that aint about to happen .

Look at it from this perspective ,
the people in the WICB who have a lot of power; especially the Presidents of the Regional Boards have no intention or are interested in giving up the power they currently
possess .

All the current talk about the Patterson Report & the Wilkin Report.
is simply a ploy . They are not going to do a blasted thing ; as I have stated elsewhere , they have absolutely no intention of changing the current structure of Cricket in the Region .

Not even if that would improve Cricket in the Region . ALL they care about is maintaining their grip & power in Regional Cricket .

He is one of those who love saying something stupid & then runs away , that is there usual modus operandi . You are new here , but you will soon come to realize this .

There are many apologists for the WICB in this Forum ; it is a job they relish doing
for those in the governance of Cricket in the Region . They like their Masters , in the WICB believe that ALL the problems
regarding Cricket in the Region is the fault of the Players .

They are also quick to shoot down worthwhile ideas , by proclaiming that the WICB has no money . Look at the stats of Players on Teams ranked above our Team , and compare them to the stats of our Players ; in all formats of the game . The difference is very stark .

I cite this because , the Truth is that if WE want our Players to be full competitive in all the formats of the game in the International Cricket Arena . They have to play more matches at the Regional level .

For many years they have not done that , and that is due to the WICB not ensuring that they do that. All this is compounded by the WICB's asinine idea of having only a 1 week Camp which is insufficient .

First let me welcome you to this Forum . I must warn you however that in this Forum we have some staunch supporters of the WICB .

They are akin to Pavlov Dogs , they will agree to any crap that those in the governance of Cricket in the Region throws
their way .

What you stated is BRILLIANT , frankly I wish I had thought of that myself . Regarding the Worst International Cricket Board in the World , WE are dealing with people who have shown very little Commitment to Cricket in th Region , while demanding that the Players show commitment
to Cricket .

They do not believe in the concept of All hands on Deck . Their belief is that since they are the Masters & the Players are their Servants , the latter must do all the work .

Their many Friends in the Media agree with them , obviously since that is the case , WE are shacked by this Rogue Cricket Board .

I am not exactly new here having been here since December 2003. (If you put the cursor on my name you should see. But the West Indies Cricket has remained a problem all that time with no improvement in sight. Whenever new individuals take up the reins , they bring their own folly to the table and claim that they are doing what they are doing to improve West Indies cricket and it is set back 20 years each time. When they stopped Desmond Haynes from playing, the rules were there to improve West Indies cricket. When they forced LARA out , it was to improve West Indies cricket. A lot of nonsense coming from the WICB
