A highly paid Indian Premier League (IPL) coach and the mastermind behind the West Indies’ first defeat at the ICC Cricket World Cup are the two front-runners for the position of head coach of the regional team.
Robin Singh and Phil Simmons both aged 51, have been identified as two of the seven candidates that the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) have short-listed and are eyeing to take over the reins of the team ever since Otis Gibson was given his walking papers last year.

Singh is not a foreigner, he is very much home grown; Captained T&T at Under 19 and also represented the senior team

I know he was born the Banana Republic and left at age 19 to India, a country where English is not the first language. But for some reason, he picked up an ugly Indian accent when speaking English. Was this deliberate by him as a method for assimilation? There would have been no intellectual need for him to change his accent, such as a person moving to a USA or England must, so I WONDER why?
