HEADLINE: Not so tweet Mr President

WEST Indies Cricket Board president Dave Cameron’s fondness for the use of social media has repeatedly revealed his arrogant belief in his own invincibility.
At the height of the team’s premature exit from the tour of India in October, for which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pointedly blamed him and his board, he defiantly tweeted: “They’ve criticised you. They’ve doubted you. They’ve lied on you. They’ve done all they can do, but one thing they can’t do is stop you.”
As the players finally carried out their forewarning that they would abandon the tour, he used Facebook to state that “it felt like an act of terrorism”.
These were publicly expressed opinions unbecoming of a leader of the region’s most cherished institution.

The anti Cameron campaign continues
It's a good tweet to get Gayle out of his slumber. Reverse psychology!
When will some Caribbean peeps get over themselves.
Moreover, Gayle is no holy cow in the Jamaica set up!
Didn't Dottie leader also slander Gayle?
The issue is petty and to continue reel out column width over it is myopic at best.

If any player had done what Cameron did, he would have been referred to the Disciplinary Committee, yet some are willing to make excuses for Cameron's unprofessional and loutish conduct.
The same thing happened when Board member Hilary Beckles publicly maligned Gayle and Samuels then made his half-hearted and insincere "apology".
To whom does the Board answer, and who is able to sanction these administrators? There seem to be one prescribed standard of decorum for the players and another for the Board members.

Cozier must be the reincarnation of
RIP VAN WINKLE , HE HAS JUST DISCOVERED
THAT CAMERON IS ARROGANT . IN THIS REGION
ALL THOSE IN THE GOVERNANCE OF CRICKET
IN THE REGION HAVE BEEN ARROGANT FOR
YEARS . APPARENTLY COZIER IS HALF ASLEEP.
I WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT IF HE WAS
FULLY AWAKE HE WOULD HAVE STATED THAT
THOSE IN THE GOVERNANCE OF CRICKET IN THE
REGION ARE ARROGANT.
The fact is that Cameron did not & could
not make the decision to cancel the Tour
to India by himself alone . For many years , those in the governance of Cricket in the Region have been arrogant . Cameron is only behaving like them , regarding Arrogance .
The Regional Governments asked the WICB to implement the changes suggested by the
Patterson Report . In their Colossal Arrogance they not only refused this request ; they then commissioned another Report ; the Wilkin Report which they also
swiftly discarded .
I did not hear or read Cozier et al saying or writing anything about this collective
Arrogance by those in the governance of Cricket in the Region .
I recall that when the WICB decided to host
the 2007 World Cup , it asked the Regional Governments for assistance ; The Regional
Governments did all that was required of them and more . New Stadia were built ;
existing Stadia were enlarged & refurbished .
Despite all this , the WICB bluntly refused
to implement the changes recommended by
the Patterson Report .
THAT IN MY OPINION IS PURE UNADULTERATED
ARROGANCE . I DON'T RECALL COZIER & OTHER
SPORTS JOURNALISTS IN THE REGION SAYING OR
WRITING ANYTHING ABOUT THE PATTERSON REPORT
OR THE WILKIN REPORTS .THEIR COLLECTIVE
SILENCE , HAS BEEN THE CATALYST THAT
MADE THOSE IN THE GOVERNANCE OF CRICKET
IN THE REGION ARROGANT .
The reason why those in the governance of Cricket in the Region are Arrogant ;is due to the fact that they are accountable to no One in the World , not even the International Cricket Cabal , aka the ICC .
WHILE ALL THIS WAS HAPPENING ALL THE
SPORTS JOURNALISTS IN THE REGION STATED &
AND WROTE NOTHING . THE POINT IS THAT
THOSE IN THE REGION WITTINGLY OR
UNWITTINGLY WERE & ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
ARROGANCE BEING CULTIVATED IN THE WICB .
They don't however to admit to this fact .
It is their indifference to the excesses of those in the governance of Cricket in this Region that has emboldened the WICB to be
Arrogant . Essentially they have created the Monsters in the WICB , but they are now setting their sites on one Monster ;
They can all call for Cameron's resignation ,but Cameron aint going anywhere ; The fiasco regarding the cancellation of the Tour to India have the fingerprints of others besides Cameron .

Seemed pretty extraordinary that it would be Retweeted by the President and I actually didn't believe it was authentic but politics again.
Given that Cameron was Gayle biggest advocate in the WICB and now both Portia and Dave have come under attack from the same guy both of them went to bat for, I would file this under familial affairs.

Very well stated . In their collective arrogance ,to be spiteful to the Players ; they threw caution to wind & without
a moment to reflect and think about the repercussions that would occur they decided
to cancel the Tour . That is why I have stated they have no Business Acumen .
Now for their Stupidity , they are in debt to the tune of 42 million dollars . The matter that went to the Privy Council regarding the WICB Digicel ; & Stanford
buttresses my essential point , which is their Individual & Collective Arrogance .
Sadly because WE dont have any Sports
Journalists in the Region with the Testicular Fortitude to state emphatically
that those in the governance of Cricket in the Region are not only ARROGANT , they have for decades frittered away money that
could have been used to raise the standard of Cricket in the Region , and make our Players fully competitive .
This is why I take umbrage of remarks made by Sports Journalists in the Region making
us believe that Cameron alone is Arrogant.
For decades these Journalists have done a huge disservice to People of the Region .

What did you expect him to do ?
He was the VP of the organisation in a long running dispute with a player. You wanted him to come on TV and essentially rubbish his own org ?
Who do you think pushed Portia to get involved ? Why do you think the JCA disavowed itself on the furore between Hunte and the JA PM, and indeed said that its reps on the Board, were not informed that Jamaica were not to get a test match.
However, the JCA on Tuesday blasted the WICBs response, and has called on president Julian Hunte to say whether he sanctioned the release.
The Jamaica Cricket Association wishes to state its complete rejection and condemnation of the unjustified and disrespectful criticisms levelled by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) against Prime Minister the Most Hon. Portia Simpson-Miller for remarks made by her at the recently held annual awards function of the JCA, the JCA said.
As a shareholder, the JCA finds it inexcusable that the WICB in their press release of February 20, 2011, could have made such a statement without consulting any of the WICB members in Jamaica, including the Vice President of the WICB Mr. Dave Cameron, along with Mr Lyndel Wright and Mr. Milton Henry who are Jamaicas two representatives on the WICB.
The JCA calls upon the President of the WICB Dr. Julian Hunte to publicly state which of the Board members were consulted before the release was sent out. The JCA further calls upon the President to state whether or not he sanctioned or sanctions the statement.
ANd again, lastly why do you think Portia endorsed Cameron last election ?

You all think real life politics is like a message board?
No Cameron, no Portia, no Gayle back in WI Cricket.
And then no endorsing of Cameron by Portia.
In the end Portia helping Gayle didn't stop him turning on her govt and claiming they weren't treating him fairly and neither did it stop him from turning on Cameron, as the perception goes.
All in the family.

I am on record from the outset as
never supporting Cameron, so I am not sure what you are on about.
"Portia "endorsing" Cameron" is as relevant as me endorsing Cameron or Garner, and carries the same amount of weight-none!
Which vote did you think she turned that would not otherwise have gone to Cameron?
Plus, Cameron was running against someone who had been involved with the WICB for the better part of 40 years. Moreover, Hunte had promised not to seek re-election then reneged on that promise at the last minute.
I would think the member associations who would have worked with both Hunte and Cameron would have voted how they did without any "endorsement" from a public official without a vote and therefore without any much influence in internal WICB politics.

Which vote did you think she turned that would not otherwise have gone to Cameron?
Is that why it was an official release from her office and carried around the media ?
I dont know whose vote it would sway, but when the integrity of someone is under attack, would you say that the PM of his country seal of approval might have some weight ?
Endorse
Hunte went back in the race because people internal to the WICB asked him to run again. The fact that he didnt squeal the beans doesnt change that.
Its interesting that you remember how long Hunte has been there. Through his membership in the Windwards Board he has seen the Combined Islands come and go, WI win the WC twice, and dominate for almost 20 years, to the lowest ebb. He left to go to the UN as the President of the UN council, came back and jumped back in and presided over a tumultuous time.
YET...other WICB members asked him to run vs Cameron and when even Dinas was throwing around suggestions to mediate this 42m matter, the best person he could come up with to head the mission to meet the BCCI, was....drumroll, Julian Hunte.
But back to the Portia endorsement. The issue isnt how much weight it carried, but WHY she felt compelled to do it. Work that part out and then maybe you will understand the point.

Again, I ask you, what
practical effect did this have on the election? Which of the electors voted for Cameron who would not otherwise have done so without Portia's "endorsement"?
I hold no brief for any of them-Hunte, Cameron or Garner.
My position has not changed: It matters little who is at the helm until the WICB is fundamentally restructured!
But I know all some of you care only about "one-a- we" being in 'power" then everything is fine with the WICB.
No Cameron, no Portia, no Gayle back in WI Cricket.
This is pure hogwash!
Are you suggesting that the member associations disregarded the incumbent's 10 years as President-and 4-decades long association with the WICB-and voted for VP Cameron just on the say-so of the Jamaican PM?

Not at all. Never met the man. Dont wish to either. Never met Hilaire either.
Note that Hunte was outvoted when he introduced the WIlkin report to the Board and tried to implement it. The issue was quite simple. The Board had to vote itself to a leaner size and it refused to. Any reform of the Board that needs the Board to gut itself will fail. The only people who can change the Board is the ICC and why would they do that ?
My viewing is that Hunte was a good diplomat figurehead and that the power of the Board has to be vested in a strong dynamic business minded CEO. That he is not. He is however up to date with the protocols of dealing with the rest of the ICC world, if that has a value.

WHat part of that is difficult to understand.
Portia asked for Sabina Park to get a match for the NZ series in PUBLIC. Voila....that was delivered. The same series Gayle came back.
Portia mediated the conflict with Gayle and that ended up with him back in the team.
Portia then endorsed Cameron for his 2013 election bid.

If the ICC wont mess with the SLCB or the PCB and not even try to clean up the BCCI, why would they worry about the WICB.
What happened in India was about the worse thing that could happen because it threatened its most important members revenue. Yet, the ICC issued a statement threatening the player and making it clear where it stood. If you have noticed there has not been one note of reprimand from the ICC to the WICB.
