I have listened to the many arguments circulating about the governance of West Indies cricket in recent time.

It is now well known that incumbent Whycliffe 'Dave' Cameron, a Jamaican, will be challenged for the presidency of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) by the legendary former Barbados and West Indies cricketer Joel 'Big Bird' Garner, when 12 delegates are shown the way to the voting station in Kingston on March 7.

The winner will lead the administrative charge of West Indies cricket for the next two years.

From the look of things, Cameron remains the frontrunner to confirm a second two-term reign, based on how the politics of West Indies cricket works. But even if he wins, the challenges of West Indies cricket will remain, as he does not have the capability or the approach to deal with them.

Very good article, some very troubling questions about Cameron and the Jamaican Cricket establishment. If the other regions vote for Cameron to remain President, there could be some dark days ahead for WI Cricket.

Mr Helps has written a masterpiece which illustrates why West Indies cricket is on its death bed. There is only one remedy to bring vigour and vitality back to this frail and fragile institution. A good dose of Epsom Salts is required.

I find it very interesting that Persons who
are not billed as Sports Journalists always have to fill the Breach when those who claim to be Sports Journalists remain Silent .

It is the individual & collective silence of
the " Sports Journalists " in the Region
that has aided & abetted those in the governance of Cricket in the Region to
demonstrate the fact that they are abysmal
Failures in the governance of Cricket in the Region .

Evidently Becca ; Cozier ; Mohammed et al
have come down with Writers Cramp . They always do whenever those in of Cricket in the Region disgraces not only themselves , but the Region .

It would be remiss of me if I did not point out to the Author of this article the fact that he is in error when he suggests that Cameron is leading the Board ,ostensibly it may look that way , but that aint true .

Cameron got his job as the President of the WICB due to the fact that the Presidents of the Regional Boards & their
Deputies voted for him .

HE therefore not only has less power than
they have :

HE HAS TO DO THEIR BIDDING ;

HE ALSO HAS TO INFORM THEM REGARDING

ANY MAJOR DECISION HE WANTS TO MAKE .


One does not have to be a genius to understand that the Members of the WICB
were not only well aware of what transpired regarding the Indian Tour , they endorsed what he did .

This is precisely why weeks ago in this Forum I stated that they knew exactly what transpired regarding the Indian Tour . So
those who are calling for Cameron's head alone , are in serious error .

I challenge you to contribute something to the CC front page, expressing your moral outrage against the behaviour of the WICB. If the journalists of the region won't do it, then you should. With an election in the offing now is the time to strike!!

don't support Cameron because he is Jamaican but do not oppose him because he is Jamaican.Cameron was elected first time because he is a WICB insider who did not push a Jamaican agenda.

unlike some people I am not a publicity seeker .

All the Apologists for those in the governance of Cricket in the Region have not & cannot refute the essential points I have stated in this Forum .

BTW in this Forum , there new members whose
views are almost identical to mine . I am
heartened by this fact .

Having 2 or 3 Teams winning the Regional Cricket does not raise the standard of Cricket in the Region ; nor the competitiveness of our Players at the International Level .

Hell , currently we have 4 day matches ending in 3 days , and WE expect that our
Players who represent the Region Internationally to be fully competitive .
That is a Joke ,

The standard of Cricket in the Region will only improve when ALL the Regional Teams are fully competitive . This would raise the standard of Cricket in the Region & ultimately the standard of the Regional Team's performances in International Cricket .
