West Indies' erratic performances in yet another World Cup, culminating in their elimination in the quarter-final in Wellington, are a certain, unsurprising signal about the urgent need for reconstruction with fresh, young recruits.

They have endured several embarrassing thrashings of late, twice at the hands of South Africa and the merciless AB de Villiers. Even those were not as utterly deflating as yesterday's, in a high-profile match to determine a semi-finalist in the game's showpiece event.

They wilted under a bombardment of boundaries (11 sixes, 24 fours) from opener Martin Guptill in an innings even more clinical and statistically more imposing than de Villiers' quickfire hundreds in Johannesburg in January and in Sydney in the pool match.

Guptill's unbeaten 237 is the highest score ever in a World Cup. It was all the more infuriating as the ever-too-casual Marlon Samuels dropped him at square leg on four off Jerome Taylor's third ball of the match.

Against such a background, Friday's appointment of Phil Simmons, the former West Indies opener, as the new head coach, six months after his predecessor Ottis Gibson was dismissed, comes at an opportune time.

Easter is around the Corner , it would really nice if Tony Cozier writes a Column , apologizing to the people in the Region , for being a diehard supporter of the Worst
International Cricket Board in the World
aka the WICB .

Cozier must also state in that column that
he & others in Sports Journalism for decades
are also responsible for allowing those in
the governance of Cricket in the Region to be unaccountable for their actions regarding the state of Cricket in the Region .

In essence , for many years the People in the Media have Aided & Abetted those in the governance of Cricket in their

ARROGANCE ; LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM ;

DYSFUNCTIONALISM ; INCOMPETENCE ; ET AL .

I find it exceedingly difficult to understand why Cozier & others in the Media have not been critical of those in the governance of Cricket in the Region
for shooting Regional Cricket in the Spine , by their asinine decision to cancel the Tour to India .

BY CANCELLING THE TOUR , THE WICB MADE

THE BCCI INCUR FINANCIAL LOSSES IN TICKET

SALES , VENDORS SALES ; HOTELS , ETC .

I cite these because , it is crystal clear
to me at least , that in their total arrogance , the people in the WICB never
factored into the equation the Financial
loss that the BCCI was going to incur , by cancelling the Tour .

This Asinine behaviour was made even worse, when Cameron refused , or was told not to go to India to settle the matter
regarding the Players Contracts . They then had the temerity to inform the BCCI
that they would send a replacement Team to India .

My take is that it was & is incumbent on
Cozier & others who tell us that they are
Sports Journalists , to state these facts , rather than remain silent on the excesses of the WICB , which for years now
has become :

A ROGUE CRICKET BOARD THAT IS ANSWERABLE

TO NO ONE IN THE WORLD , NOT EVEN THE ICC

IT SEEMS CAN REIN IN THE WORST

INTERNATIONAL CRICKET BOARD IN THE WORLD.


Mr Cozier ; Becca ; Fazeer et al , have
by their continuous silence ,have helped
in creating those in the Governance of Cricket in the Region to be the Worst
Cricket Board in the World . By their Individual & Collective silence they have
played a part in the Sad ; Sorry ; State of Cricket in the Region .

It is time that they all fess up , and say
Mea Culpa , for their part in the Saga of
Cricket in the Region . Those in the governance of Cricket in the Region cannot & must not be above Criticism . As the
the Court in India informed , the BCCI :

"YOU ARE THE GUARDIANS OF A PUBLIC SPORT "

That also apples to the WICB , it aint
a freaking Sacred Cow , as the Sports
Journalists in the Region would have us believe . I have no doubt that if the Sports Journalist in the Region were very
critical of the WICB , it is likely that it would be a much better run Entity .
