HEADLINE: I knew World Cup axe was coming - Dwayne Bravo

CaribbeanCricket.com Jun 10, 2015, 2:56:53 PM

West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo has revealed that his exclusion from the squad for the World Cup did not come as a surprise, and he and Kieron Pollard were expecting the axe - which he called a "big joke" - from the West Indies Cricket Board selection panel, headed by Clive Lloyd. He also said the team management was prepared to lose the World Cup before it started and instead build for the next tournament.

In an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Bravo said the pair "laughed" when Lloyd sat down the pair in Cape Town in January to explain the reasons he felt they were not fit to be part of the World Cup squad. "We actually laughed when he said it to us. To be honest, we knew it was coming. We know the type of people in charge of our cricket are actually mature enough to make sensible decisions and the right decisions for the benefit of cricket," Bravo said. "If we had got selected we actually would have been surprised. We expected it. There was nothing that shocked us.

I'd hoped I'd seen the last of 'Pull-Out' Dwayne but this man must have a hard working press agent because he stays in the spotlight with his tireless self promotion.

Did I mention overrated and disloyal too? Hope he leaves us alone because he's not the answer to our underperformance..

Those in the governance of Cricket in the Region are by far the most Disloyal People in the Region , but some like You are too Blind to see that .

ALL they care about , is being in the governance of Cricket in the Region & ensuring that their power is never ever diluted .

Our Team has been at # 8 in the longest version of the game for years ; and that aint likely to change soon .

Look at the number of Matches Players on Teams ranked above our
Team have played , hopefully you would understand why our Team is losing matches . Stats do not Lie.

The stark truth is that the Standard of Cricket in this Region is below what is required at the International Level .

You apparently want to blame Bravo ; Pollard et al . for the Standard of Cricket in the Region , rather than those who are in the governance of Cricket in the Region . That is sheer Nonsense .

'Pulling Out' of a tour, in the middle of it, is unforgivable IMO. Regardless of the beef with Management..

Only the unthinking would do this. Did he consider the impact of his actions?

I guess that is why the WICB is now facing a potential Lawsuit of 42 million dollars , Please note the fact that the BCCI did not name any Players in its potential Lawsuit .

Why do you think the BCCI did not name Players in its potential Lawsuit ???

I will tell you why , the people in the BCCI , were well aware that the Players were willing to play matches . The problem is that the Contract offered by the WICB was not favourable to the Players , that was not a problem that could not be solved .

BUT the WICB bluntly refused to fix the problem . It promised to send another Team ; the BCCI balked at that Crap . Then the WICB decided to pull the Plug on the Tour without any regard of the Financial Problem it caused the BCCI .

I WILL ALWAYS INSIST THAT THE WICB'S

BEHAVIOUR WAS NOT ONLY RECKLESS , IT

ONCE AGAIN IT DEMONSTRATED TO THE

WORLD THAT IT IS DEVOID OF BUSINESS

ACUMEN .

I've followed your rantings about the WICB over the years. And because of this I think you're incapable of seeing the other side. I think you're myopic.

Were you wronged by the WICB in your youth? Please confess..

And stop it with the UPPERCASE text, it suggests technical ignorance..

When you have limited talent, as the West Indies do, you need to work hard to keep all your players happy, the way the Kiwis do with their limited talent pool....

We did brilliantly in the World Cup without Big Bravo, didn't we?

This is the simplest concept that most dont get here...

India, Aus, SA all can say We will select whom we want. But teams like WI, NZ,SL do not have great depth in talent and should be focusing on how to maximize talent...Which is too hard to grasp for some here.

Concur. He should have known that is dastardly act would have precluded him from selection. They should NEVER play for the WI again or even for their local team. FISGRACEFUL what they did. And please, no one should conflate the actions of the WICB and what these egomaniacs did to WI cricket. twisted

Just like WI did in 2011 and the tournament before that, right ??

If you lot think Johnny Bravo and Pollard would have made a difference, y'all got to be living in cloud cuckoo land !!

Yes, management has a responsibility to look after the players... and players also have a responsibility to the game and the fans... and you never, never pull out halfway through a tournament unless your life is in danger... kapish ??

Narper Jun 11, 2015, 3:58:54 AM

Simmo must bring Bravo back....Big PU-C should be sent to the pasture

Big bravo played 1 game in 2011. Having Sammy as captain and sure pick didn't help. As was Shiv n Ronnie inability to accelerate. I never argued for Polly inclusion in 2015. But Johnny should have been picked

We know the type of people in charge of our cricket are actually mature enough to make sensible decisions and the right decisions for the benefit of cricket," Bravo said.
Explain what Bravo mean by the above statement? Is he suggesting that management got it right by sacking him and Pollard? Or is he saying they know what’s right but made the wrong decision anyway by excluding them
